Deccan Chargers had to face yet another defeat at their home ground - the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. This time they went down to Pune Warriors by 6 wickets having posted only 136 for 8 on a decent batting track. None of the Chargers batsmen could come up with a cracking knock as the hosts fell well short of a below par total. Tall lanky medium pacer Mitchell March captured 4 for 25 in four overs for Pune Warriors. Skipper Yuvraj Singh was more than impressive with 2 for 17 in his four overs.
Pune in reply got off to a blazing start from Jesse Ryder who smashed 35 from 20 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. The other opener Manish Pandey played the anchor scoring 49 from 42 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes to almost seal the game. Pune was coasting along to a victory but was under a bit of pressure when it got reduced to 119 for 4 in the 17th over. Sourav Ganguly who was playing his first match of this season played responsibly for an unbeaten 32 from 32 balls while Australian Callum Ferguson finished the match with an unbeaten cameo of 15 from 8 balls with 3 fours.
