West Indies picked up their first victory of the World Cup when they defeated Netherlands by a massive margin of 215 runs at Delhi. Fast bowler Kemar Roach registered what was the first hat-trick of the tournament which cleaned up the Dutch innings for 115 all out in 31.3 overs. Tom Cooper with 55* (from 72 balls) was the only batsman who put up any real fight for the minnows.
Roach who took a hat-trick finished with dream figures of 8.3-0-27-6 to pick up the Man of the Match award. Earlier West Indies had smashed a total of 330 for 8 after being asked to bat first by Netherlands. Opener Chris Gayle top scored with 80 from 110 balls while his opening partner Devon Smith scored 53. Kieron Pollard provided the fireworks with 60 from just 27 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes.
