South Africa in the first Test got an innings victory and that was returned back in style by India. It would have been great had India got Hashim Amla as the last wicket but anyway they would take this victory. The 2-Test Series has been drawn 1-1.
Its actually a proud thing for Indians as this victory came on a good batting pitch. I am sure the South Africans or anyone from the ICC will have no complaints about this. India often get their much needed wins on square turners but this match was very refreshing. They really raised their performance levels to beat SA.
And this much needed victory has helped India retain the No.1 position in Test Rankings! And boy they had to play out of their skins really to win this Test. Dramatic collapse from SA on Day 1, I was thinking that they were on course to pile up 500-550 but they struggled to even get to 300! India cashed in big time after that with the bat.
Well tremendous scenes at the Eden Gardens. I can't remember when was the last time India won a match just in the nick of time. Remember Harbhajan got Morkel's wicket with just about 15 minutes left!
Over 131.3: Out LBW! Harbhajan to M Morkel, flatter trajectory delivery, gets a fizzing drifter that skids through and hits the pad infront of middle. The desperate lbw appeal is accepted by the Umpire and India have won with that! India win by an innings and 58 runs.
Over 131.1: No runs. Harbhajan to M Morkel, flighted delivery, defends it off the frontfoot. 16 mins left in the match.
