Sri Lanka defeat England by 19 runs. And with Sri Lanka along with West Indies have entered into the Semi Finals from this Group.
Presentation Ceremony:
Lasith Malinga for his fifer gets the Man of the Match and here is what he says: "Happy to be amongst the wickets, I conceded a lot of runs in the last two overs but overall a good show. I am developing some variations and the slower ball is one amongst them, I use it when I sense a batsman going after me. Will look to do better in the next matches, thanks to the wonderful support from the crowd."
Kumar Sangakkara, the namesake Captain for Sri Lanka comes up again and this time says: "It was a nice feeling to register a win. I was the official captain, we did not want to take a risk with Mahela and Angelo under the pump, this was a fantastic performance, great start from the openers and the rest of them batted brilliantly. Lasith has been a champion performer and he showed his class in both the NZ game as well as today. We will keep our feet on the ground and will look to do well in the knock-outs."
The losing England Captain Stuart Broad says: "It is very disappointing, the guys have tried hard. We had a young squad and have learnt a lot throughout the tournament. We struggled in the first six overs and our bowling towards the end was poor. We enjoyed playing in front of the Lankan crowd, the stadium has been amazing. Losing three wickets in an over hurt us, credit to Malinga for his 5 wicket haul, but we should have played him well. Samit played superbly and showed his quality. SL are a quality side and deserved to win, good luck for our Ladies (England Women) as they play in the Semis."
