Revised 2023 World Cup schedule confirmed, India to face Pakistan on October 14

After plenty of confusion and delay, the revised schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup to be played in India from October 5 to November 19 was confirmed on Wednesday, August 9. Including the India vs Pakistan marquee clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, a total of eight matches have witnessed changes

The India vs Pakistan match was originally slated to take place in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 15 October. This game will now be played a day earlier, October 14, at the same venue. Due to this change, the England-Afghanistan match in Delhi has been shifted from October 14 to October 15.

Also, Pakistan’s World Cup clash against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has moved from October 12 to October 10. The big Australia vs South Africa game in Lucknow also sees a change in schedule. It has been moved back 24 hours from October 12 to October 13.

On similar lines, New Zealand's match against Bangladesh, which was originally scheduled as a day game for October 14 in Chennai has also been rescheduled. It will now be played on played on October 13 as a day-night match.

Also, England's match against Bangladesh in Dharamsala on October 10 will now be a day game, starting at 10:30 AM IST, instead of the originally scheduled day-night fixture. If we look towards the end of the league stage, the double-headers have been moved from November 12 to November 11 - Australia vs Bangladesh in Pune (10:30 AM IST) and England vs Pakistan in Kolkata (2:00 PM IST).

Also, India’s last league match against Netherlands has been moved from November 11 to 12. The match will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Along with change in World Cup schedule, the ICC also revealed ticket sales dates. The information is as follows:

25 August – Non-India warm-up matches and all non-India event matches

30 August – India matches at Guwahati and Trivandrum

31 August – India matches at Chennai, Delhi and Pune

1 September – India matches at Dharamsala, Lucknow and Mumbai

2 September – India matches at Bengaluru and Kolkata

3 September – India matches at Ahmedabad

15 September – Semi Finals and Final
