On expected lines, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has pulled out of this year's Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) owing to 'personal reasons'. Harbhajan revealed that he has informed the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management about the decision he has taken.

Bhajji, as he is popularly known, is currently in Jalandhar with his family. Harbhajan has requested for privacy following the decision. "I have informed the CSK management about my decision to pull out of this year''s IPL. I have decided to take a break due to personal reasons in these difficult times. I expect that everyone would respect my need for privacy," Harbhajan was quoted as telling PTI on Friday.

Harbhajan, who earlier has a successful stint with Mumbai Indians, has claimed 150 IPL wickets, and is one of the most successful bowlers in the league. Before Harbhajan, another CSK stalwart Suresh Raina had also pulled out of the tournament citing personal reasons.

Raina's uncle passed away following a midnight attack in their village in Pathankot. The attack happened on the night of August 19 while the family was asleep on the terrace of the house. Raina's relatives were attacked with weapons while they were in their sleep.

Further, 13 members of the CSK contingent had earlier tested positive for Coronavirus, putting their opener with Mumbai Indians in doubt. However, with the team now testing negative in the latest report, the MI-CSK clash is all set to go ahead.

IPL 2020 starts on September 19 in the UAE. It has been shifted from India to the UAE owing to the Coronavirus pandemic.
