Stunned after being upset by an inexperienced but resolute outfit at the Gabba, Australia head coach Justin Langer lauded the Indians for their spirited performance. He also stated that Australia learned a harsh lesson from the stinging defeat - never underestimate the tough players from India. The Indians lifted the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 despite losing most of their senior players to injury, and after being rolled over for an embarrassing 36 in the first Test at Adelaide.
Five Indian cricketers, who were seen in a video on Friday, dining in an indoor restaurant in Melbourne, have been placed in isolation as a preventive measure. The five players seen in the video are Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and Navdeep Saini.
Shortly after India’s exit from the 2019 World Cup last year at the hands of the Kiwis, much was speculated about Dhoni’s future with the team and the prospective replacement being groomed in Rishabh Pant. At that point, he was the regular test keeper and though was in and out of the limited overs side, he had pretty much cemented his place in the team.
In the build up to the third T20I against Bangladesh at Nagpur, India’s skipper for the series, Rohit Sharma, had asked for struggling wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to be left alone. "I just feel that he needs to be allowed to do what he wants to do on the field. I would request everyone to keep their eyes away from Rishabh Pant for a while," Rohit had said while speaking to the media.
