Rain had the last laugh in the Group B Match between Ireland and West Indies. The match was abandoned after the West Indies run chase never got started because of heavy rain. Both the teams shared a point each and West Indies because of a superior net run rate go into the Super Eights.

As a matter of fact, both the matches for West Indies suffered due to bad weather. And without a win, they move ahead to the next round while Ireland as expected have been eliminated.

Ireland Innings Update: Ireland finished with a decent score of 129 for 6 in the allotted 19 overs after being sent in to bat first by Darren Sammy. The match was reduced to a 19-over contest because of a brief rain interruption.

The Irish innings was off to a disaster as Captain William Porterfied departed for a duck in the very first ball of the match just like the game against Australia. Ireland though would take the total of 129 for 6 as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Not a single batsman scored big but they were just enough cameos.

Now whether the Irish have got enough runs on the board to defend against the likes of Gayle and co. is another matter.

Toss and Teams: West Indies have won the toss and asked minnows Ireland to bat first in the Group B Match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The conditions are cloudy at Colombo and we will be lucky if we can have a full game tonight.

It is an important match for the West Indies as they will have to beat Ireland to qualify into the Super Eights. Same is the case with Ireland though they are very much the weaker of the two sides. The Windies have made two changes with Darren Bravo and Andre Russell replacing the pair of Dwayne Smith and the injured Dwayne Bravo. Ireland have made one change with tall fast bowler Boyd Rankin ruled out with a health problem. Replacing him is going to be the unknown Max Sorensen.

Ireland: William Porterfield (Captain), Paul Stirling, Ed Joyce, Niall O'Brien (Wicket Keeper), Gary Wilson, Kevin O'Brien, Alex Cusack, Trent Johnston, Max Sorensen, George Dockrell, Nigel Jones

West Indies: Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, Marlon Samuels, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Darren Sammy (Captain), Denesh Ramdin (Wicket Keeper), Ravi Rampaul, Sunil Narine, Fidel Edwards
